Under general direction of the Associate Director for the Statewide Assessments Office within the Assessment Development & Administration Division the Education Research and Evaluation Administrator I manages the Science Office. Duties include, but are not limited to the following:
Provides leadership, managerial direction, and supervision of consultant, analytical, and support staff for responsibilities of the Science Office. Monitor the item development, test administration, scoring, psychometric standards, and reporting of the California Science Test (CAST) and the California Alternate Assessment (CAA) for Science.
Direct the formulation of strategies to implement the policies, programs, and priorities of the Superintendent of Public Instruction, the California Department of Education and the State Board of Education. Consult with key internal and external staff; oversee plans for communication and outreach that support the implementation of the CAST, the CAA for Science, and science instructional resources for Tools for Teachers.
Oversee the preparation of Science Office work products. Determine tasks, timelines, and due dates; assign tasks to staff and communicate responsibilities and expected work products; provide feedback on and approve deliverables; ensure policy and format consistencies; oversee the preparation of budgetary documents; oversee contracts administered by the office; analyze proposed legislation that impacts on the work of the Office; and ensure that correspondence meets Department standards and policies.
Represent the Office to the field. Meet and work collaboratively with representatives of key local, state, and national programs.

TELEWORK OPTION
HYBRID
This position is headquartered in Sacramento and may be eligible for a hybrid telework schedule for eligible applicants residing in California. A hybrid telework schedule includes working remotely and physically reporting to the office.

This position is subject to PLP 2025 and will have a monthly base pay reduction of 3% in exchange for 5 hours of leave credits through June 2027.
